ATM and Aphasia: On the one hand, this result contradicts our prediction for Tense as part of the ATM complex, and it also seems consistent with previous finding using elicitation tasks that people at least with more severe forms of aphasia are not able to access the tense node in the syntactic hierarchy [33], and also with claims of an impairment in reference to the past in PWA [64], and less such impairment in Aspect, which is syntactically lower in the hierarchical phrase structure.
