Given that the medication Cystaran®,which is already FDA-approved for ocular manifestations of Cystinosis and therefore would be faster to market for other conditions, contains as its active ingredient the TGM2 inhibitor cysteamine hydrochloride (CH), we aimed to assess its safety for use in wounded corneas and its potential utility as a medication targeting scar tissue formation following corneal wound healing. The gene discussed is TGM2; the disease is cystinosis.
