The World Health Organization Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours, in previous editions, suggested that “A small B‐cell lymphoid neoplasm with plasmacytic differentiation should be diagnosed when the distinction between LPL and MZL, is not always clear‐cut.” The results from the present study confirm that different clinical and histological parameters should be collected when LPL or MZL is suspected in bone marrow biopsy specimens, as it is suggested in the upcoming 5th edition of World Health Organization Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours [21]. This evidence concerns the gene LPL and marginal zone lymphoma.
