The Kirsten rat sarcoma virus gene (KRAS) has four splice variants, with KRAS-201 (KRAS4a) and KRAS-202 (KRAS4b) having significantly different roles in the development of cancer due to their changes in the C-terminal region (Plowman et al., 2006; Abubaker et al., 2009; Chakrabarti et al., 2016). The gene discussed is KRAS; the disease is cancer.
