The three seemingly contradictory findings including the activated necroptosis pathway in glioma patients with poor prognosis and high CASP8 expression in glioma as well as classical negative regulation of necroptosis by CASP8 imply that the post-translational modification (PTM) of CASP8 may play a significant role in necroptotic glioma. The gene discussed is CASP8; the disease is glioma.
