Mass-spectrometry based studies from postmortem tissue of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and PD patients, show full-length and truncated acetylated αS forms (Ac-αS1–139, Ac-αS1–119 Ac-αS1–103) and no non-acetylated forms, suggesting that in both disease and healthy conditions acetylation is present (Öhrfelt et al., 2011). The gene discussed is PTGDR; the disease is Parkinson disease.
