CRP and temporal arteritis: In this purpose, the persistent elevation of ESR and/or CRP, besides the apparent patients’ clinical response to steroid therapy, could justify the indication to carry out second level diagnostic exams, such as total body 18F-FDG-PET/CT, in order to identify an extra-cranial GCA or to exclude other inflammatory occult disorders, i.e., infectious diseases or neoplasms (6–9).
