The aberrant activation of HGF/MET signaling pathway arises from overexpression, MET gene amplification or activating mutations, as well as excessive autocrine or paracrine HGF secretion, which has been reported to be associated with the development and progression of many types of cancers including lung, renal, gastrointestinal, thyroid, and breast cancers as well as glioblastoma among others (Zhang et al., 2018; Fu et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene MET and breast cancer.
