ZBTB16 and colitis: We also observed persistence of this cell type in two mouse models of colitis (Supplemental Fig. 7A), and the analysis of a previously published dataset containing single-cell data from healthy controls and IBD patients48 showed higher expression of a gene module containing the TMIC-associated genes ZBTB16, KLRB1, IL18R1 and IL23R in CD4 T cells from non-inflamed and inflamed tissue samples compared to healthy controls (Supplemental Fig. 7B), supporting the idea that TMIC cells are present in inflamed colitic tissue.
