Interestingly, a recent report found that CTNNB1 expression was significantly higher in obese mice than in normal-weight mice; and ablation of CTNNB1 in mice mature adipocytes reduced macrophage expansion, thereby decreasing inguinal white adipose tissue expansion and obesity caused by overnutrition [50]. Here, CTNNB1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
