After adjustment for age, site of onset, diagnostic delay, prediagnostic progression rate (∆FRS), vital capacity, presence of FTD, C9orf72 repeated expansion, and El Escorial classification,24 a 1 mmol/L increase of HDL-C was found to be associated with a higher risk of death and shorter survival time after ALS diagnosis, HR of 1.33 (95% CI 1.14–1.55, p < 0.001, Table 3). The gene discussed is C9orf72; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
