SKIC2 and macular degeneration: The Ski2-like RNA helicase (SKIV2L) is part of the Super killer (SKI) complex and involved in mRNA degradation, DNA-RNA hybrid control, and telomere stability (56). SKIV2L is also known to contribute to inflammatory bowel disease (57) and macular degeneration (58). Furthermore, SKIV2L features antiviral capacities and plays a role in innate immunity (59) associated with RNA exosomes (60).
