IGHE and eosinophilic esophagitis: In summary, the triple weekly intraperitoneal sensitization followed by 1 week of daily oral challenge in the S + C group induced immune mechanisms and pathological changes as observed in human EoE patients: Sensitization led to a systemic Th2 response as well as elevated anti-OVA serum IgE levels; the combined sensitization and oral challenge protocol was required to induce the histo- and gross-pathological changes used to histopathologically diagnose human EoE—eosinophilia, basal zone hyperplasia, and esophageal fibrosis.
