ACHE and status epilepticus: Cholinergic activity has a crucial role in memory and cognitive functions [81].On the other hand, the decreased activity of AChE may account for cholinergic hyperactivity which may results in status epilepticus and convulsions [82].Supporting this assumption is the decrease in cholinergic activity as indicated from the present reduction in cortical AChE level which is correlated with the level of its substrate, acetylcholine.
