PLOD1 and polycystic ovary syndrome: Hyperandrogenemic PCOS is diagnosed in 8–10% of all women and gonadotropin release in these women is characterized by persistently high LH pulse frequency and elevated LH/FSH ratio (Taylor et al., 1997; McCartney et al., 2002; Patel et al., 2004; Tsutsumi and Webster, 2009), suggesting at least some changes are occurring centrally at the level of GnRH release.
