Finally, the CYP21A2 gene, which was output by XP-EHH as selected in Omanis (supplementary table S20, Supplementary Material online), is well known for its role in cortisol and aldosterone synthesis in the adrenal glands, and deficiency in this gene is the major factor of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (Soardi et al. 2008). The gene discussed is CYP21A2; the disease is congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
