When the biomarkers were used as dichotomized variables in the univariate age‐ and gender‐adjusted model, elevated CRP (>10 mg/L) (OR = 3.36, 95% CI 2.14–5.28, p < 0.001), IL‐6 (>4.92 ng/L) (OR = 2.18, 95% CI 1.42–3.36, p < 0.001) and YKL‐40 (>age‐corrected 95th percentile age‐corrected 95th percentile) (OR = 2.20, 95% CI 1.43–3.39, p < 0.001) were associated with an increased risk of cancer. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and cancer.
