Based on the facts that endothelial cells are critical determinants of the radiation response of tumors (Klein et al., 2015; Klein 2018) and that Cav-1 deficient tumor cells are more sensitive to radiation therapy (Klein et al., 2015), Ketteler and others recently explored the potential link between the Cav-1-dependent radiation response of endothelial cells and signaling mediated by ceramide-enriched platforms.
