Researchers detected Tim-3 expression on tumor cells and CD204+ tumor-associated macrophages in clear cell renal cell carcinoma, and found that higher Tim-3 expression levels were associated with shorter PFS in patients, and similar to reports on lung cancer, Tim-3 was found to induce resistance in renal cancer cells to standard treatments as sunitinib and mTOR inhibitors (112). The gene discussed is HAVCR2; the disease is renal carcinoma.
