Several inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins, IL6 (HGNC:6018; interleukin 6), CXCL8 (HGNC:6025; C‐X‐C motif chemokine ligand 8; aka, IL8), IL1A (HGNC:5991; interleukin 1 alpha) and TNF (HGNC:11892; tumor necrosis factor; aka, TNF‐alpha), have been reported to exert tumor‐promoting effects in colorectal cancer through activation of downstream signaling pathways, which may enhance angiogenesis and suppress the anti‐tumor immune response.4 Here, TNF is linked to colorectal cancer.
