However, the significance of the better response to SSAs in MEN-1/ZES patients, which we observed in our cohort, needs to be further confirmed; even if we might speculate that MEN1- patients show a better response due to overexpression of SSRs, we have also to consider that these patients are generally diagnosed at an earlier stage, show a smaller tumor burden and exhibit less aggressive behavior, as confirmed by the absence of extrahepatic metastases in the MEN-1 group; anyway, further studies are needed to draw more solid conclusions.
