BMP2 and nosocomial infection: Particularly, the LbL nanocoating can be suitable to incorporate biomolecules and/or drugs to: (1) enhance the antibacterial properties, i.e., with incorporation of antibiotics, silver nanoparticles, etc, to avoid the risk of nosocomial infections when the scaffolds are implanted in vivo, and (2) improve the formation of new bone, i.e., with the incorporation of BMP-2 growth factors, to accelerate the osteo-integration with the surrounding tissues in vivo.
