Although evidence from our study combined with other international studies indicates that uTERTpm could be a universal biomarker for detecting various subtypes of BC in different populations, it is not clear whether the differences in the reported detection rates for uTERTpm in different studies originate from pre-analytical procedures reported to urine sample collection, storage, and preparations, or from urinary DNA sources (cfDNA, cellular-DNA, or total urinary DNA), or differences in the prevalence of TERT promoter mutations in BC across populations [20].
