An insufficient number of studies on the role of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in cocaine use disorder at its various stages and in the motivational aspects of drug use prompted us to look at changes within elements of Wnt signaling, including Wnt5a, Wnt7b, and β-catenin (the final effector of the canonical Wnt pathway, encoded by the Ctnnb1 gene). Here, WNT7B is linked to cocaine use disorder.
