It is important to note that in the body of literature surrounding the role of AR in HCC, many immunoblotting techniques used to measure AR protein levels do not account for molecular weight (e.g., immuno-histochemistry) such that reagents targeting an epitope in the amino terminus of the AR are unable to distinguish AR-FL from lower molecular weight, carboxy-terminus truncated AR-SVs. Here, AR is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
