A recent review by Kartikasari et al. [9] demonstrated the predictive role of some cytokines in cancer detection and outcome; in particular, NFkB through IL-6, TNF, IL-8, IL-17, IFN-γ, and CCL-5 correlate to cancer progression [10]; IL-6 via STAT3, has been shown to promote tumor cell proliferation in many cancers but also chemotherapy resistance (HNSCC, colon, and prostate cancers). This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and prostate carcinoma.
