RB1 and neoplasm: Initially, the MCCs caused by UV-light overexposure have been attributed to approximately 20% of the total cases and are characterized by high accumulation of UV-derived DNA mutations, specifically on genes that encode tumour-specific UV-neoantigens, such as the retinoblastoma (pRb) pathway, RB1, TP53, and PIK3CA, along with mutations in host DDR and chromatin modulation pathways [43,53,60,61].
