In mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease, the expression of the synapse-associated proteins (Postsynaptic Density protein- 95-PSD-95; Synaptophisyn-SYP; N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 2 B -NR2B) are reduced and the pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β) are increased. The gene discussed is DLG4; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
