In agreement with the AGA, the IAP advises Ringer's lactate as resuscitation fluid in acute pancreatitis.33Ringer's lactate is associated with reduced SIRS response compared with normal saline.8, 9Some authors advise selective use of colloids for patients with acute pancreatitis and low hematocrit (<25%) or albumin (20 g/L).35However, this is controversial because of the association of colloids with increased mortality in patients with severe sepsis.33 The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
