Our previous study also showed that E. faecium WEFA23 improved hyperlipidemia via modulating genes relevant to the decomposition of cholesterol (Cyp7a1), synthesis of cholesterol (HMGCoAS, Scd1), and transportation (Ldlr and Srb1) of cholesterol in rats fed a high-fat diet (63). The gene discussed is SCARB1; the disease is hyperlipidemia.
