In the current study, treatment with CFS from LAB strains stimulated the phagocytosis of macrophage cells and enhanced the expression of immunomodulators such as NO, TNF-α, IL-6, iNOS, and COX-2 by activating the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways.
