Compared to patients with idiopathic hypersomnia (IH), a small study demonstrated that patients with narcolepsy with low orexin had significantly higher BMI, greater waist-to-hip ratio and waist circumference, lower levels of HDL, higher total cholesterol and triglycerides, higher diastolic blood pressure, higher fasting insulin, and a higher glucose/insulin ratio (suggesting insulin resistance) [27]. Here, INS is linked to narcolepsy.
