INS and diabetic ketoacidosis: An investigation on the effects of insulin pump therapy on children’s long-term glycemic control, frequency of severe hypoglycemia episodes, and diabetic ketoacidosis found that this treatment enhanced glycemic control; HbA1c was significantly reduced throughout the seven years of follow-up, hypoglycemia episodes were less frequent (14.7 to 7.2 events per 100 patient-years, p < 0.001), and the hospitalization rate for diabetic ketoacidosis was lower in pump users (2.3 vs. 4.7 per 100 patient-years, p = 0.003) [35].
