Our analysis showed that serum HE4 levels had acceptable combined sensitivity (0.79; 95% CI: 0.75-0.82; I2=84%) and clinically meaningful specificity (0.92; 95% CI: 0.87-0.95; I2=98.7%) for differentiating ovarian cancer from the normal condition with reference to the gold standard as biopsy (Figure 5). The gene discussed is WFDC2; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
