EZH2 and renal fibrosis: Low SIRT1 expression can lead to the dysfunction of renal cells such as podocytes and glomerular mesangial cells.7,8 Enhancer of zeste polycomb repressive complex 2 subunit (EZH2) is a histone methyltransferase, which has been found to trigger DN occurrence by promoting renal fibrosis, and be highly expressed in DN patients.9,10 However, the studies on the correlations between SIRT1 and EZH2 expression levels and peritoneal function in patients with DN undergoing peritoneal dialysis are few.
