We found strong covariance structure between the 17 IDPs used (i.e., the ones that had significant associations with DEPTOR and showed co-localisation with IPF), meaning that the effective degrees of freedom are much lower than 17 (14 of the 17 IDPs show correlations above 0.7 with at least one of the rest—see Supplementary Figure S6), therefore a Bonferroni correction would be too conservative. The gene discussed is DEPTOR; the disease is idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
