In light of the key role of the sympathetic nervous system in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases (Malpas, 2010), the recent emergence of P2Y6 receptors as drug targets in cardiovascular therapy (Burnstock, 2017; Zhou et al., 2020) has revived the interest in functions of that receptor subtype in sympathetic neurons. This evidence concerns the gene P2RY6 and cardiovascular disorder.
