Furthermore, we explored the effects of SCA treatment on autophagy-related proteins in the two cell lines, and found that the level of the autophagy protein p62 significantly decreased, whereas those of LC3-2 and Beclin1 significantly increased in the SCA-treated group compared to the levels in the control group, further confirming the occurrence of autophagy (Figure 4C, Supplementary Material is the Western blotting). The gene discussed is BECN1; the disease is autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia.
