To date, phosphorylation has only been shown to affect NP-stimulation of GC-A and GC-B, although recently we have been able to demonstrate the physiological importance of this process by showing that GC-B dephosphorylation is the mechanism by which luteinizing hormone stimulates resumption of meiosis in the oocyte as well as the mechanism by which fibroblast growth factor receptor-3 activation causes achondroplasia (Shuhaibar et al., 2016, 2017; Robinson et al., 2017; Wagner et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene FGFR3 and achondroplasia.
