Worthy of note is that while “knocking out” galectin-1 and blocking galectin-1 with antibodies reduce the attachment of ZIKV to human A549 cells by about 40 to 60% (Figures 4F and 4I), silencing of galectin-1 in MNCs reduces the attachment and infection of ZIKV by close to 80% (Figures 4G, 4H, and 4J).
