Measuring analyses in plasma using commercial ELISA showed that there are significantly elevated levels of sCD163 in patients with a diabetes duration < 5 years (508 [378–699] ng/ml) compared to patients with a longer diabetes duration; 5–10 years (414 [334–510] ng/ml) and > 10 years (394 [344–576] ng/ml; p = 0.001; Table 1). The gene discussed is CD163; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
