IL6 and cancer: Activation of NF-κB can result in reawakening of DCCs in two ways: direct stimulation of cancer cell proliferation, and indirect induction of formation of a pro-metastatic microenvironment.6 Apart from pro-tumorigenic effects, IL-6 has also been demonstrated to exert anti-tumor effects by increasing trafficking and adhesiveness of T-cells to the tumor endothelium.1,22
