Although no difference in parasite burden was previously detected in PACAP-treated brains, IFN-γ transcripts were reduced, as well as the expression of CXCL9 and CXCL10 chemokines, particularly important to T cell recruitment into the brain upon cerebral toxoplasmosis [66] (Fig. 3I).
