However, NRASQ61 mutant melanoma cells displayed a modest upregulation of genes related to the metabolization of glucose to pyruvate and the derivation of glycolysis intermediates to branching pathways (PGAM2, PFKFB2, G6PD, G6PC2, FBP2, FBP1 and ENO2), together with the downregulation of PKLR, PFKFB4, MPC2, LDHC and ALDOB, which included the genes involved in the use of pyruvate in the mitochondria (OXPHOS) or the conversion of pyruvate to lactate (Fig. 5b and Supplementary Data 2). The gene discussed is PFKFB4; the disease is melanoma.
