Recently, both Keymeulen’s and Yang’s groups have reported that abnormal Akt activation can induce breast cancers to switch from luminal tumors to basal-like/triple-negative breast cancers [10] and can promote tumor metastasis via zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1)-mediated EMT [11]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
