In the platelets, one month after the development of STZ-induced diabetes, neither the total quantity of COX metabolites (the sum of 6-keto prostaglandin (PG) F1α (6-k-PGF1α), which is a stable metabolite of prostacyclin; PGF2α; PGE2; PGD2; thromboxane B2 (TxB2), which is a stable metabolite of TxA2 and 12-L-hydroxy-5,8,10-heptadecatrienoic acid), nor the total quantity of eicosanoids formed by the LOX pathway was altered (Fig 3A) compared to healthy rats.
