Based on the role of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in autoimmune disease, anti-TNF-α monoclonal antibodies have been used as a novel therapeutic approach and are associated with favorable results in many diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and non-infectious uveitis (18), as well as in systemic sarcoidosis (19–23). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and rheumatoid arthritis.
