INS and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: We chose to feed the animals a WD for two weeks because previous studies (e.g. 44) have shown that while feeding a HFD for 2 weeks results in a small, but significant increase in liver triglyceride content, whereas blood glucose, insulin, leptin, and ALT levels are unchanged, suggesting that the animals are in the early stages of developing NAFL, but have not yet become insulin resistant or developed NAFLD.
