We first used conventional flow cytometry to test whether a panel of 7 markers that are widely used either to define CLL cells (ROR-1, CD5) or to assess measurable residual disease (CD19, CD20, CD79b, kappa and lambda Ig light chains) (17) would allow for unambiguous identification of leukemic B cells. The gene discussed is CD79B; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
