PNETs may arise from pluripotent stem cells of the pancreatic duct/pancreatic system (Schimmack et al., 2011; Vortmeyer et al., 2004). Also, GLP-1RA can promote pancreatic hyperplasia and GLP-1R expression in the pancreatic duct (Nyborg et al., 2012). Meanwhile, a study found that 23 of 50 patients with PNETs had positive GLP-1R expression, and 8 of 11 metastatic PNETs had GLP-1R-positive metastasis sites (Cases et al., 2014).
